Former NFL DE Will Smith Murdered In New Orleans
(New Orleans, LA) -- Former NFL defensive end Will Smith was shot and killed Saturday night following an automobile accident that led to a heated exchange. Police say Smith was driving an SUV east on Sophie Wright Place, when he was rear-ended by a Hummer H2.
During the argument, the driver of the Hummer pulled out a gun and shot Smith multiple times and his wife twice in the right leg, according to police.
Police have taken the suspect into custody.
Smith spent his entire nine career with the Saints and won a Super Bowl in 2009, he also was involved with the now infamous Saints' bounty scandal but had a four-game suspension overturned in 2012.
Will Smith was 34 year old.
