KSU's Grant To Join SCB Hall Of Fame


BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Former Kentucky State University (KSU) standout and retired NBA player Travis Grant will be among the inaugural inductees into the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame. The 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. "It is an absolute thrill to announce the inaugural class for the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame," said Hall of Fame and SCB Founder John McCarthy. "This class represents the best of the best in the history of small college basketball, and it is with great pleasure that we announce this class." Former teammate William Graham, who played alongside Grant from 1968-1971, described Grant's professionalism on and off of the court. Graham is director of the Exum Center at Kentucky State. "He was one of the most phenomenal and humble teammates that I ever played with," he said. "He gave our team a great opportunity to win game after game. He was an unbelievable player." KSU Director of Athletics William Head said the department is "deeply gratified" to hear about Grant's honor. Head recalled when Grant led the KSU Thorobreds to several victories, including the NAIA National Championships. "Travis "Machine" Grant was a vital part of three consecutive NAIA National Championship Basketball teams here at the University and in being so makes him one of the truly great small college players of all time," Head said. "I had the opportunity to see Kentucky State play during that glorious run and feel proud to have been so blessed and privileged to have that experience."
