"Nate The Great" Dead At 74

Hall of Fame center Nate Thurmond died today after battling leukemia at the age of 74.

 

The man known as "Nate the Great" played 11 of his 14 NBA seasons with the Warriors from 1963 until 1974 before playing for the Bulls and Cavaliers.

 

The seven-time All-Star is also the first NBA player to record a quadruple double, which he achieved in 1974 while playing for Chicago.  Thurmond was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985, and his number-42 jersey is retired by the Cavaliers and Warriors.
