Wilder Retains Title Via TKO Vs Arreola

Deontay Wilder retained his WBC heavyweight title with a technical knockout when Chris Arreola's corner stopped the fight after the eighth round Saturday night.

Let's be honest this thing was never really close and after seeing this fight I'm now in total agreement with Chris Arreola's statements earlier this week that he wasn't deservant of this championship opportunity versus Deontay Wilder who came into the fight with a broken hand and a torn muscle in his right bicep that he sustained doing yard work at his Alabama home.

Torn muscle and broken hand = no problem versus the flabby Arreola.

Wilder (37-0, 36 knockouts) knocked down Arreola in the fourth and nailed him with left jabs and hooks throughout the fight.

It was Wilder's fourth title defense and third in home state of Alabama.

In his defense Arreola took the fight on short notice after Wilder's defense against Alexander Povetkin was called off in May because of a failed Povetkin drug test.
