Emanuel Supports Firing Of Chicago Cops
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is supporting the efforts of Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson to fire seven officers connected to the Laquan McDonald police shooting.
Johnson wants to fire the seven for covering up the teenager's shooting, allegedly by Officer Jason Van Dyke. Mayor Emanuel backs Johnson's move, saying Monday that he has confidence in the decisions Johnson has made. Emanuel wouldn't comment on whether the officers' supervisors should be investigated or fired. He said he trusts that those things will be decided on their merits.
Meanwhile, the head of the police union says the department is denying the seven officers due process by not providing details of the claims against them.
