California Freeway To Bear Robinson's Name
A plan to name part of California's 210 Freeway after Jackie Robinson is becoming a reality.
The former Dodger and Hall of Famer grew up in Pasadena, and the Jackie Robinson Memorial Highway will run through a section of that city.
State lawmakers gave the proposal their blessings, and Dodger officials say it's "fitting that this stretch of freeway is in Pasadena." That's where the legend attended John Muir High School and Pasadena City College before enrolling at UCLA. Robinson is best known for breaking the color barrier in baseball when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
His number, 42, was retired by all of Major League baseball.
