SWAC Week 4 Football Honors


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Grambling State quarterback Devante Kincade, and Prairie View defensive tackle DeVohn Reed, wide receiver Anthony Wiltz and defensive back Terrence Singleton have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for their outstanding performances during action, Sept. 23-25.

Offensive Player of the Week Devante Kincade Grambling State Quarterback QB | Jr. | 6-1 | 190 | Dallas, Texas Kincade had a prolific night for the Tigers in their win over defending conference champion Alcorn State. He was able to carve up the Braves' league-leading pass defense to the tune of 400 yards and five scores on 30-of-42 passing. He also rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown in Grambling's 43-18 victory.

Defensive Player of the Week DeVohn Reed Prairie View A&M Defensive Tackle DT | R-Jr. | 6-2 | 265 lbs. | Houston, Texas Reed was a handful for Mississippi Valley, posting 10 tackles (six solo) and three stops behind the line of scrimmage. He also took down the quarterback twice, marking his second-straight outing with at least two sacks. Reed anchored a defense that limited the Delta Devils to -13 yards rushing.

Special Teams Player of the Week Anthony Wiltz Prairie View A&M Wide Receiver/Return Specialist WR/RS | R-Sr. | 5-10 | 155 lbs. | Houston, Texas Wiltz only had four touches in Prairie View's 56-21 win over Mississippi Valley, but he made the most of them, scoring three touchdowns and accounting for 151 all-purpose yards. In addition to an 18-yard scoring scamper and a 49-yard touchdown catch, he took a punt 77 yards to the house in the first half to give the Panthers a 14-7 lead early on.

Newcomer of the Week Terrence Singleton Prairie View A&M Defensive Back DB | Sr. | 5-11 | 200 lbs. | Houston, Texas Singleton posted seven tackles (four solo) and nabbed a career-high two interceptions in the Panthers' win over Mississippi Valley State. Singleton's first pick was taken 44 yards the other way for a score, and in the third quarter, he got his hands on another pass, returning it 19 yards and setting up another PVAMU touchdown. The senior has three interceptions in the last two games.
