CIAA Week 6 Football Honors


QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK #14 D.J. Johnson, St. Augustine's (So, QB - Richmond, VA)

Johnson accounted for five touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing) including the game-tying touchdown on a 10-yard run which was followed by the game-winning extra point in the second overtime of a 38-37 thriller over Livingstone. Johnson passed for 244 yards and rushed for a game-high 87 yards on 19 carries in the win. He threw no interceptions.

RECEIVER OF THE WEEK #1 Sam Boyd, St. Augustine's (Jr, WR - Houston, TX)

Boyd recorded three receptions for 97 yards including an 80-yard touchdown catch in a 38-37 double overtime win over Livingstone.

OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK #8 William Stanback, Virginia Union (Sr, RB - Hempstead, NY)

Stanback rushed for 143 yards and 2 TDs in the Panthers' 51-10 victory of the Lions of Lincoln (Pa.).

DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK #8 Carlo Thomas, Johnson C. Smith (Jr, DB - East Orange, NJ)

Thomas finished as JCSU's lead tackler with 15 stops, including eight solo. He also hauled in his fifth interception of the season in JCSU's 15-14 loss to WSSU.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK #39 Kahj Huitt, Johnson C. Smith (Fr, FS - Smyrna, GA)

Huitt finished with 14 tackles (7 solo, 7 assisted) and had three tackles for loss (12 yds) in JCSU's 15-14 loss to WSSU.

COACH OF THE WEEK Richard Hayes, Jr., Fayetteville State

Coach Hayes recorded his first ever career coaching victory with a 7-6 road win over Shaw. Despite the rough start, the Broncos continue their divisional slate with a 1-0 record.
