CIAA Week 8 Football Honors


QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK

#3 Daquan Neal, Elizabeth City State (Jr, QB - Franklinton, NC)

In the Vikings' 40-21 win over Chowan on Saturday, Neal went 17-for-34 in passing attempts for 210 yards and four touchdowns. His longest completion went for 50 yards. Neal also carried the ball 16 times for 52 yards and a rushing touchdown

OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK #8 William Stanback, Virginia Union (Sr, RB - Hempstead, NY)

Stanback rushed for 194 yards and three TDs in VUU's 42-35 win over Bowie State. Stanback now has 1,024 yards on the season and 14 rushing touchdowns. Stanback's 14 rushing TDs are the third-most in VUU history.

LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK #4 Kevaugn Townsend, Bowie State (Sr, LB - Fort Washington, MD)

Townsend appeared over the field on Saturday vs. Virginia Union, racking up a game-high 13 total tackles, which included one sack for nine yards and he recovered a fumble.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK #47 Will Johnson, Winston-Salem State (Sr, P/K - High Point, NC)

Johnson continued his great play on Saturday, as he finished the game going 5 for 5 on PAT's, punting seven times for an average of 40.6 yards per punt, and kicked a career long 50 yard field goal in the Rams 40-21 win over Livingstone.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK #28 Stevie Green, Fayetteville State (RFr, RB - Washington, NC)

Green rushed for a game-high 154 yards off 30 carries with two touchdowns in the 39-16 win over Saint Augustine's. He ranks 2nd in the CIAA with 916 yards on the season and has run for over 100 yards in five of the eight games played.

COACH OF THE WEEK Earnest Wilson, Elizabeth City State

The Vikings picked up a very important division win with a 40-21 throttling on Chowan on Saturday.
