SIAC Week 9 Football Honors


ATLANTA (October 31, 2016) – Marcus Reynolds (Lane) was selected as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Offensive Player of the Week and Quavon Taylor (Tuskegee) was named the Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office. Cedric Poole (Miles) was tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week and Nicc Dance (Miles) earned the Newcomer of the Week honor. Reynolds, a 6’1 quarterback from Calhoun, Ga., led Lane to a 35-21 victory over Kentucky State on Saturday. Reynolds recorded four touchdowns including two in the air and two rushing scores. He completed 13-of-20 passes and rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries. Taylor posted a career-high 15 tackles from his middle linebacker position to lead all tacklers in Saturday’s 42-14 victory over Central State. The 6’1 junior from Miami, Fla., posted eight solo tackles and recorded a pair of tackles for loss against the Marauders. Poole returned a fourth quarter punt 83 yards for a touchdown which was his first career punt return for a score, in Miles’ 34-17 win over Clark Atlanta. Poole, a 6’0 senior defensive back from Birmingham, Ala., also had five solo tackles and two interceptions for the Golden Bears on Saturday. Dance recorded an interception and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown against Clark Atlanta. Dance, a 5’11 senior linebacker from Nashville, Tenn. also recorded a pair of tackles.
