CIAA Week 9 Football Honors
OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK #78 Victor Tamba, Bowie State (Jr, OL - District Heights, MD) Tamba played an outstanding game along the Bulldogs offensive front, helping Bowie State amass 641 yards of total offense in the 41-23 victory at Lincoln (Pa.).
QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK #6 Amir Hall, Bowie State (RSo, QB - Bowie, MD) Hall completed 21-of-34 passes (no interceptions) for a game-high 294 yards and two touchdowns. Hall was also Bowie State's second leading rusher vs. Lincoln (Pa.) with 87 yards and two scores.
LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK #2 Eddie Johnson, Virginia Union (Jr, LB - Selma, AL) Johnson had a team-high 16 tackles and an interception against Elizabeth City State.
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK #12 Brayant Frazier, Virginia State (Sr, DL - Flen Allen, VA) Frazier continues dominiate the field after collecting 5 solo tackles and 3 sacks for 11 yards. He remains No. 1 in the conference with 11.5 sack on the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK #22 Braxton Gambrell, Johnson C. Smith (Fr, RB - Seneca, SC) Gambrell rushed 18 times for 117 yards and one touchdown to help JCSU break a four-game losing skid with a 34-8 homecoming win over St. Augustine's. The 117 rushing yards are the most from a JCSU running back this season. He also had one kick return for 42 yards.
COACH OF THE WEEK Kienus Boulware, Winston-Salem State Head Coach Boulware led his Rams to a 39-23 win over Shaw. Boulware also led his Rams to their sixth-straight victory and WSSU punched their ticket to the 2016 CIAA Championship game as the Southern Division Champion for the sixth consecutive season.
