Heisman Winner Salaam Dead At 42

(Boulder, CO) -- The sports community is mourning the death of former Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam. The 42-year-old was found dead Monday night in a Boulder, Colorado park.

No signs of foul play were discovered.

Salaam was the runaway winner of the 1994 Heisman after rushing for 2,055 yards and leading the University of Colorado to an 11-and-1 season. He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft. Salaam had a solid rookie season, but faltered over the next two seasons due to injuries, fumbling and marijuana use. He also played for the Cleveland Browns.
