(Video) ICYMI: Secretary DeVos Gets No Love At BCU
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is getting a chilly reception in sunny Florida. DeVos received some boos as she started speaking at a graduation ceremony at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach. School President Edison Jackson eventually had to interrupt DeVos' speech, saying that students could have their diplomas mailed to them if they continue to disrupt the graduation. DeVos remarked that one of the hallmarks of higher education is the ability to talk with people with different viewpoints and opinions.
She insisted that the Trump administration is committed to supporting historically black colleges and universities like Bethune-Cookman. The ACLU says DeVos' attempts to create a voucher system would hurt public schools and erode the separation between church and state.
