ESPN is reportedly parting ways with its senior NFL writer and commentator John Clayton.
"The Sporting News" is reporting that Clayton and ESPN have parted ways as part of the company's recent massive layoffs. Neither Clayton nor ESPN have commented. Known as "The Professor," Clayton is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame writer's wing and has been with ESPN for 23 years.
Clayton is known for starring in one of the most popular commercials for ESPN's "This is SportsCenter" TV commercials.
Sporting a mullet, he completes a report with an ESPN anchor, rips off his faux suit, and then cranks up head-banger music and yells, "Hey, Mom, I'm done with my segment" while eating in his bed.
