Falcons To Honor Michael Vick And Roddy White

The Atlanta Falcons will honor quarterback Michael Vick and wide receiver Roddy White with a retirement ceremony Monday (6/12).

Owner Arthur Blank made the announcement Friday. The team will not sign either player to a one-day contract to retire officially as Falcons, with Blank stating a contract isn't necessary to consider them family. Vick was the top pick by Atlanta in the 2001 NFL Draft and played six seasons before a dogfighting conviction derailed his career.

While with the Falcons, Vick was one of the league's most popular and recognizable players. He guided the franchise to a pair of playoff appearances and was the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

White was a first-round choice in 2005 and suited up for Atlanta until 2015. He's the all-time franchise leader in receptions, receiving yards and total touchdowns.

He was voted to four Pro Bowls and led the league in catches in 2010.
