Maynor Steps Down At Hampton
Connell Maynor has resigned as Hampton University head football coach.
“There’s a lot going on, and it’s time for me to leave,” he said. “It’s best for me and my family at this point for me to pursue other avenues.
“I want to thank Hampton University, Dr. (President William) Harvey, and Mr. Marshall for all they’ve done by giving me the opportunity to coach Division I football. I’m forever in their debt, but it’s time to move on.”
Marshall said Michael Ketchum, Maynor’s defensive coordinator the last three seasons, will oversee the program until a head coach is hired.
Maynor's resignation comes less than a week after Hampton announced it was leaving the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to become a member of the Big South Conference in July, 2018.
After recording a 45-6 record during his time at Winston-Salem State, Maynor took over the program at Hampton in 2014 and finishes his time in the Tidewater Area with a 20-25 record.
