A police officer in Coral Springs, Florida is being criticized for punching a black 14-year-old girl while trying to arrest her.
A video shared on social media on Friday shows the girl being held down by two male officers when one of them hits in the in the side twice while holding onto her shorts. The Coral Springs police department said in a statement on Facebook that the officer were responding to a call about teenagers harassing people at a shopping mall. They issued a trespassing warrant and barred them from the mall, but they later returned.
The girl then reportedly tried to rile up the others in the group, and resisted arrest when officers tried to handcuff her, prompting the officer to hit her to get her to comply.
