2 Chainz Named Post-Game Entertainment for the McDonald’s MCC


Birmingham, Ala. (Sept. 4) – The McDonald’s Magic City Classic presented by Coca-Cola announced today that 2 Chainz, Grammy Award winning rapper and songwriter, has been named this year’s post-game concert performer.

The 78th annual event will take place on Saturday, October 26th at historic Legion Field and tickets can be purchased online at www.magiccityclassic.com. Concert admission is included in the price of a ticket to the game and the concert will begin immediately after play ends.

“2 Chainz is a world-class performer and we’re thrilled to feature his talents on the stage of the 78th Annual McDonald’s Magic City Classic presented by Coca-Cola,” says Executive Director Perren King. “having attended an HBCU himself, he embodies what the Classic stands for. His performance is sure to make this one of the largest and best Magic City Classic to date.”

Born and raised in College Park, Georgia, 2 Chainz attended Alabama State University on a basketball scholarship. Initially, he found his way into the music industry as one-half of the Southern hip hop duo Playaz Circle. In 2012, 2 Chainz signed a solo record deal and released his debut album Based on a T.R.U. Story which was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 55th Grammy Awards and generated three singles (“No Lie”, “Birthday Song”, and “I’m Different”) that all charted in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, 2 Chainz won Grammy Award for the “Best Rap Performance” for his “No Problem” collaboration with Lil Wayne and Chance the Rapper. He also stars in the TV show Most Expensivest on Viceland.

The McDonald’s Magic City Classic brings fans and celebrities from around the country as Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University battle it out for a potential spot in the SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) Championship. Fans also enjoy the McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade, which will be broadcast live in Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, Mobile, and Montgomery along with the Coors Light Pre-Game Tailgate Party at Legion Field. The game is scheduled for 2:30 pm on Saturday, October 26th, and the much-anticipated halftime show will feature the Marching Hornets and the Marching Maroon and White.
