Georgia Lawmaker Resigns Then Rescinds...


A Democratic lawmaker from Georgia is abandoning his post after endorsing the country's top executive. State Rep. Vernon Jones said his resignation would be go into effect Wednesday. Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he has "left the plantation" and "someone else can occupy that suite." He also told a radio station afterwards he wanted to "root out the bigotry" in his party. Jones was criticized by Democrats in his state after telling the paper he was backing President Trump last week. He cited Trump's handling of the economy and support for historically black colleges as reasons for his endorsement.
