Study: Coronavirus Not Sexually Transmitted

April 25, 2020

It appears that sex is mostly safe amid the outbreak of the coronavirus.

A new international study suggests that COVID-19 cannot be transmitted through sexual contact. The American and Chinese researchers say there was no presence of the virus in the semen of a test group of 34 men, who had been diagnosed with the illness about a month prior. This differentiates the coronavirus from other diseases like Ebola and Zika, which can be sexually transmitted. Researchers say the test group was small and only dealt with moderate cases, so it's possible a more intense infection with a higher viral load could act like an STD.

Of course, other intimate acts like kissing can still pass COVID-19 from one person to the next.
